WHAT IS GUZHENG ?
Guzheng is an ancient Chinese musical instrument. It can be said that it is a national treasure of China. Guzheng, the Chinese Zither, is a traditional Chinese music instrument originated during the Warring Period over 2500 years ago in China. Guzheng belongs to the fretless zither family of plucked instruments. It is the predecessor of the Japanese koto, Korean kayagum and Vietnamese dan tranh. GUZHENG HISTORY
Guzheng is also known as Qin Zheng because it originated from the Qin state (located in today's Shanxi province) during the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period (771 -221 BC). It is also commonly known as zheng.
After guzheng was introduced to Korea, Japan and Vietnam, it was then known as kayagum in Korea, koto in Japan and dan tranh, with sixteen strings, in Vietnam. THE FATHER OF THE GUZHENG

By now he is known in China and abroad as the "Father of the Guzheng." His name is Xu Zhen Gao. He holds the official title of China's highest Master in the art of guzheng-making.
Born on November 27, 1933 in Yangzhou City, he moved at age 16 to study instrument making in Shanghai. Already then he was considered to be the best apprentice of his Master, Liao Jin Lin.
