GUZHENG HISTORY

Guzheng is also known as Qin Zheng because it originated from the Qin state (located in today's Shanxi province) during the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period (771 -221 BC). It is also commonly known as zheng.
After guzheng was introduced to Korea, Japan and Vietnam, it was then known as kayagum in Korea, koto in Japan and dan tranh, with sixteen strings, in Vietnam.
